BDS Course consist of ?

 


We can divide the course broadly into two

a)Preclinical

b)Clinical

Preclinical period :

First 2 years of BDS reffered as preclinical.

Why because,this is the period before you entering clinic.

You will learn wax carving,Plaster working,Conservative preparations,Orthodontic wire bending along with usual medical subject practicals like Anatomy - histology & dissection ,Biochemistry,Physiology(during 1st year) , Microbiology,Pharmacology,Patholog(During 2nd year).

Clinical Period :

  • Clinical posting in dental college under KUHS starting in 3rd year.
  • There are 9 departments in dentistry.They are 
  1. Oral Pathology
  2. Oral Medicine and Radiology
  3. Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthoaedics
  4. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  5. Public Health Dentistry
  6. Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry
  7. Periodontics
  8. Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge
  9. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
  • Students in each batch divided into posting groups and get posted in these departments
  • Duration of posting on each department may range from 20-30working days.
